First Presbyterian Church of Johnson City New York is seeking a Hunger Outreach Food Service Trainee Effective July 2020.
Qualifications:
- An adult 18 years or older with a high school diploma or actively seeking/ enrolled in a GED program
- A desire to learn food service and be mentored toward Food Service Handlers Certification and employment within a one-year period
- Ability to work in a team environment under supervision
- Prior working experience not required
- Vehicle and valid state driver’s license a plus
Duties:
- Must be able to work 10:00am to 6:00pmevery Wednesday for one year
- Must be available pick up food from Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse (CHOW) 9:30 am to 11:30 amevery Friday for one year
- Inspect and label food items for expiration and storage; rotate stock, manage pantry
- Maintain kitchen and food service area in compliance with Department of Health and industry best practices
- Work compassionately with others without discrimination
- Agree to operate and conduct oneself as a representative of First Presbyterian Church of Johnson City (FPCJC)
- Attend Job Performance Instruction and Supervision with the Outreach Coordinator
- Be prepared to take Food Handlers Certification test within six months of start date
- Actively seek employment with the support of the Outreach Coordinator and FPCJC
- Consider volunteering for one year at the Hunger Outreach Program for two hours per week after completion of the 1-year training program and job placement
Compensation: $12.00 per hour for 10 hours per week
