Students from Thomas Jefferson Elementary School have been collecting non perishable food items for the Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse this Thanksgiving season, and on Wednesday the fruits of their labor showed. The 10 day long school wide food drive aimed to provide food for people in need during the holiday season. Last year the school collected 776 pounds of food.

The Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse, or CHOW, distributes over 130,000 of food every month through a network of food pantries, soup kitchens and community meal programs. Today, students from TJ Elementary School helped load the truck that came to pick up the food as well.

This year, students collected 1,350 pounds of food, doubling their record from last year.
