Thanks to the generosity of UHS employees, the recent CHOW food drive at UHS will provide 19,000 meals to Southern Tier residents in need.
UHS leaders presented a check for $3,480, along with a truckload of more than 1,900 pounds of non-perishable food items, to the Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse in Binghamton on Wednesday morning, June 24.
The canned goods and other food, along with cash donations, were collected at UHS Hospitals, UHS Physician Practices and UHS Home Care locations over a two-week period.
Special thanks and recognition to Rich Keehle, senior director of Support Services, and Mitzi Sherba, director of Physician Practice Operations-Primary Care at UHS, for their leadership in organizing this highly successful food drive.
Through its network of nearly 100 partner agencies (pantries, community meals and non-profit organizations), CHOW is a local organization that distributes over 175,000 pounds of food each month.
