UHS employees are celebrating the holiday season by giving back to the communities they serve.
UHS announced on Wednesday that its employees raised $11,000 and collected over 1,700 pounds of food for CHOW.
In November, UHS hosted a food drive for employees to collect food and monetary donations to combat food insecurity in the local area.
“Our employees at UHS saw a need in our community and worked to help provide some relief this holiday season,” said John Carrigg, President and CEO of UHS. “I am immensely grateful to all the hard work they put into this food drive and how it will help members of our community this holiday season. This drive is an embodiment of the UHS Way and our values as an organization.”
Food insecurity is very prevalent in Broome County, especially during the holiday season.
“During the holidays, it can be especially tough for families struggling with food insecurity,” said Les Aylesworth, Director of CHOW. “UHS stepping up with their generous gift is helping make the holidays a little brighter for them. We at CHOW thank UHS and their employees for pitching in to help us stop hunger.”
According to CHOW, for every dollar raised, it can provide five meals to the community.
