Want to make a difference?

Everyone has unique talents, skills, and passions. Are you looking for a fun way to give back to your community? Whether by packing food boxes, visiting with older adults, building ramps, hosting a food drive, or your own special project – there’s something here for you!

Volunteer Opportunities:

CHOW®

The CHOW® (Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse) Program offers food assistance to individuals and families in Broome County. Volunteer opportunities include helping in Food Pantries, Community Meals, the CHOW® Warehouse and the referral office.

Faith In Action Volunteers

Faith in Action Volunteers serves more than 250 registered participants ages 60+. Some volunteer opportunities include providing transportation to medical appointments, grocery shopping, facilitating social support, and helping build wheelchair ramps with local youth.

Jail Ministry

The Jail Ministry team is comprised of two full-time staff persons and nearly 100 volunteers who minister to both the needs of those who are incarcerated or recently released and their families. The Jail Ministry has many requirements for volunteering in the Broome County Correctional Facility, such as a Jail ID and Security Clearance. We also have volunteer opportunities that occur outside the facility.

Hospital Ministry

Hospital Ministry Volunteers offer emotional and/or spiritual support for patients and their families. Hospital Ministry volunteers are adept in interpersonal listening skills, open to the diversity of faiths, and able to maintain confidentiality. To be a Hospital Ministry volunteer, you will need the following: at least 2 references, a 50-hour-per-year minimum commitment, an active vehicle registration, an interview, and a no-cost health assessment (including a drug test).
