This money will be used for CHOW’s Food Recovery Program. This is where CHOW acquires food that has passed its sell-by date, but not its use date. It takes special vehicles and storage to get the food to CHOW headquarters and kept away until it is ready for use. These funds will assist with that.
In addition to the grant, officials announced details of the 43rd annual CHOW Hunger Walk. The walk is set for Saturday, September 20th from noon to 3 p.m. at Oakdale Commons.
The goal of the walk is to increase awareness of hunger in the county, raise money for food, and boost the community and have fun.
A single dollar can purchase five meals that can help someone in need.
There will be games, kids activities, music, raffles, and more. If you can’t make it, but you want to help, there are a few ways you can do so.
See the attached QR code, visit BroomeCouncil.net or mail a check to Broome County Council of Churches and put CHOW Walk on the memo line.
