As the spring air brings much-welcome warmth after a brutal winter season, the Southern Tier on April 25 will celebrate everything that makes the Earth beautiful.

Earth Fest returns to the campus at SUNY Broome Community College from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with an array of family-friendly activities that include live music, magic shows, crafts and other demonstrations.

Visitors will find the festivities in the SUNY Broome Student Center. The cost to get in is $1, or a donation to the Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse (CHOW).

The tradition of Earth Fest, an Earth Day-themed event sponsored locally by Earth Day Southern Tier, is among the longest-running celebrations of Earth Day in the nation.

Nationwide, Earth Day is observed on April 22 and this year marks its 45th anniversary.

Earth Fest helps support Earth Day Southern Tier’s mission by boosting public education and awareness of environmental concerns and the programs, products and technology available to help make the Southern Tier — and the planet — greener.

Acts big and small can help make that happen — from planting a tree to simply cleaning up litter and recycling more.
